Dr. Jervis Yau is an orthopedic surgeon with sub-specialty fellowship training in sports medicine practicing at the Ryu Hurvitz Orthopedic Clinic in Santa Barbara, California. Dr. Yau has experience caring for athletes of all ages and focuses on restoring maximal function through both non-operative and operative techniques. Dr. Yau has particular interest in joint preservation through minimally invasive surgical techniques of the knee, shoulder, hip, elbow and ankle.
He has additional training in cartilage restoration techniques including autologous chondrocyte implantation, osteochondral autograft transplant (OATs) and osteochondral allograft transplantation. As a sports medicine specialist, Dr. Yau is also proficient in orthopedic trauma and fracture care.

Orthopedic surgeon and sports medicine specialist, Dr. Jervis Yau graduated cum laude from UC San Diego with a degree in Animal Physiology and Neuroscience. He then attended New York Medical College where he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. Dr. Yau completed his orthopedic surgery residency at Yale New Haven Hospital, followed by additional fellowship training in sports medicine and arthroscopy at Sports Orthopedic and Rehabilitation (SOAR) in Redwood City.
In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Yau has team coverage experience at the collegiate and professional levels, including the San Francisco Giants. He serves as the Team Physician for UC Santa Barbara, Westmont College, Santa Barbara High School, Bishop Garcia Diego High School and Cate School.
On the academic front, Dr. Jervis Yau is on the Membership Committee of Arthroscopy Association of North America (AANA). He is also a proud member of the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society.
